Like many of the breathtaking Phoenix attractions, the Wrigley Mansion, too, has a rich and varied heritage. It has a diverse and exuberant history that takes us through the development of the mansion and house by the American chewing gum industrialist William Wrigley Jr. in the year 1932. Following this, the Wrigley Mansion changed house owners several times and was about to be torn down when the late Geordie Hormel and his wife Jamie fell in love with the house and purchased it.

They worked tirelessly to restore the magnificence and grandeur of the house and oh what a marvelous job did they succeed in doing! Mystery Castle

Our favorite thing about the Mystery Castle is the story it holds for it is most heart-rending and comforting. Here is how it goes. The castle came into existence somewhere in the 1930s. It was built by Boyce Luther Gulley for his daughter Mary Lou Gulley without her knowledge. Boyce Luther Gulley built Mary Lou a native stone castle with parapets, eighteen rooms, about thirteen fireplaces, and several delightful nooks and crannies, and equipped it with southwestern antiques. However, Boyce Luther happened to pass away before he had a chance to show it to his family.

Soon after, Mary Lou learned about it through an attorney and moved her house into the native stone castle. She then made it her house and started giving out tours and sharing the beauty of her house with other people. Now, the Mystery Castle stands tall as a testament to the fact that a parent’s love knows no bounds. And as you may imagine, this building is visited by plenty of families who enjoy showing love in their unique manner.

Robert Indiana’s “Love”

There are only a handful of Pop images that are as well recognized as the piece on LOVE by Robert Indiana. And we think one of the major reasons for that is perhaps the heart-rendering history that attaches itself to the work of art. You see, the critically acclaimed artist Robert Indiana developed his work on LOVE around the time when the United States of America was in the midst of the Vietnam war. We believe it was conceived as a pictorial representation of a request for peace and harmony.

That artwork has since blossomed into numerous prints, paintings, sculptures, banners, rings, tapestries, and stamps. It is everywhere and we hope that the message stands strong along with it. When you do visit Phoenix, you should be sure to embark upon an adventure to discover LOVE in the city. Here, the building was purchased through the Scottsdale Public Art Program and now it stands tall among the colors and buildings of the city.

Tres Rios Wetlands

The Tres Rios Wetlands has both practical relevance and a beautiful water charm surrounding it. After all, it is a well-constructed wetland complex that is used for the treatment of the wastewater at the interjection of the Rivers of the Salt, Gila, and Agua Fria River.

But the best part is that due to the convenience and clarity of the water, the river is frequented by plenty of birds and the wetland water has been established into a premier birding area. In fact, the river and water make for a winter habitat for several different species of waterfowl that surround the neighboring waters of the river in Phoenix.
